This week at GDS

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: GDS team

Here’s a round up of some of the things we’ve been up to over the last seven days at GDS

  • The start of the week saw a few changes for GOV.UK, as the team released a new version of the homepage and browse pages, plus more content and tools throughout the site
  • We've sent out briefing packs for front line staff this week, which includes information about the release of GOV.UK and posters to put up for colleagues. The communications team also hosted the final pre-release workshop for government departments
  • The team working on detailed guidance for GOV.UK have been getting some of the final content in place ahead of launch, as have the editorial team
  • Browser testing has been continuing at breakneck pace, with bugs and errors being called out for the development team in time for release on the 17th
  • The IDA team's work was covered in a few papers, and you can read a bit more from Steve Wreyford about that here
  • The Policy and Engagement Team have been working with departments on the draft of the cross-Government Digital Strategy. They've also been delivering workshops and facilitator events to support delivery of Departmental Digital Strategies
  • The Innovation and Services team have been busy producing data-matching pilots for upcoming projects and building tools to help process some data from the Cabinet Office
  • Emer Coleman from our comms team spoke at the Code For America summit in San Francisco. You can check out her slides over on Slideshare
  • Liam Maxwell, deputy CIO for government, popped into GDS for a short talk following his presentation at the O'Reilly Strata conference on Monday
  • and on Tuesday, Adam Bailin from the Performance and Delivery team met with 25 transactional services owners from throughout government. As part of that he presented a video interview with Craig Sullivan, a product manager with over a decade's experience in the e-commerce sector, touching on things like agile and user-centred design. Hi - a couple of questions not really related to this post but don't know where else to ask!

Why is your search box at the bottom of your pages? Surely this is one of the first things of good web design - to have it at the top!

Do you ever look at your old posts and reply to recent comments? It seems you're not interested in responding to people a couple of days after your post.
