Ben Terrett – Designer
Hi, I’m Ben and before this I was Design Director at Wieden & Kennedy, an ad agency. I’m one of the founders of Newspaper Club and a partner in Really Interesting Group.
I was attracted to GDS because of the real change happening in the way government does digital. The chance to get design into the heart of that thinking, and to work with a bunch of very talented, very dedicated people was too good to miss.
Something my colleagues don’t know about me? I know all the lyrics to DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince’s Summertime off by heart.

Hi Ben,
I saw you talk at Design Indaba in Cape Town this year and in the interim have come onto the site to check out how to apply for a British passport. I was really impressed with what you said and showed at the conference, but actually using the site has been a real eye-opener – the UX is unbelievable for a government site. You said you had the best job in the world, that I’m not sure of, but what I do know is that you’ve done the best job in the world on a government site. It really is rare to use so complicated and info rich a site so effortlessly. Well done – maybe there is a use for ad agency folk in the real world.
