This week at GDS

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: GDS team

Here’s a round up of some of the things we’ve been up to over the last week in the GOV.UK team

  • The editorial team published their 1358th piece of content on GOV.UK, which is just a few weeks ahead of its full release. That's in addition to more than four hundred pieces of detailed guidance
  • The communications team have been rolling out posters and guidance to colleagues across government, so that front line staff know about the release of GOV.UK. We'll be telling you more about those next week
  • We’ve been testing some of the tools and services we’ve built for businesses, to see how changes to the UI and functionality affect their users
  • The team responsible for the content we’re writing for professionals made the decision to change the name of the material to ‘Detailed guidance’. It had been ‘Specialist guidance’, but that was leaving some users confused about the kind of information they might find
  • We’ve been fine tuning the search algorithms ahead of launch, which we’ll talk about in more detail soon
  • The Digital Advisory Board came in to talk about their work and see some of things GDS has been up to over the summer and to meet with the Digital Leaders Network
  • and we had a visit from Rob Bowley, who chatted to the team about agile adoption and his experience of agile at 7digital and at BBC Worldwide

Well done on 1,358 pieces of content. Great work - and most of it a big improvement on the Directgov content.

However, the '400 pieces of detailed guidance' have all been copied from Business Link and so are not 'simpler, clearer, faster' in the slightest.

    New money for old rope?
